Characters like Luci, Dia, and Barb, who don't walk away from lesson 16 completely blameless either. Lesson 16 (and quite a few plot points leading up to it) don't make any gd sense, and make a lot of the characters look bad or dumb. How? Why? Because I don't hold the game's bad writing against him, or any of the characters for that matter. I loved him at first sight because I'm a fan of gray characters/villains.Īnd even tho that part of him has mostly been erased, I still like him, but now it's more in a "I think he deserved better" sorta way. Hence, the reason why Diavolo wants to heal the disconnect between the three worlds/races.) People who play the game tend to overlook the fact that the characters are completely different beings than humans. It's heavily implied at the beginning of the game that MC needs to be protected in Devildom, because. I now love Belphie, because I understand the dark, fucked up place he's coming from and appreciate his response MC once he realized how wrong he was. A lot of people can't acknowledge and take responsibility for themselves being violent/abusive, or even just toxic, towards others. My abusive parent still has not acknowledged what they did to me, my sister, and my other parent. So the fact that I saw Belphie actually acknowledge what he did, learn from it, and make changes, I appreciate that on another level others might not see. I have a lot of empathy and come from an abusive childhood home. His relationship with MC changes over time, and that is why I now really like him. No matter how fucked up people are, I believe they can fully be reformed IF they choose to do so and put in the work to change.īelphie learned from his mistake and now feels remorse for what he did. I didn't blame my dislike for him on him attempting to kill MC, but I think that was more than likely why lol. So yeah, I didn't like Belphie for a while, and I never really knew why exactly. These factors are by no means justification for what he did, just why he did it. He no doubt during that time developed more psychological issues from the isolation, in which he more than likely had these irrational beliefs towards humans get exponentially worse. He was also locked away for (irrationally) wanting to wipe away the entire human race. However, it was based in deep seeded trauma that he hadn't dealt with. What Belphie did to MC was completely irrational.
